Analog Devices Inc. CN0522 Circuit Evaluation Board (EVAL-CN0522-EBZ)

Analog Devices Inc. CN0522 Circuit Evaluation Board (EVAL-CN0522-EBZ) provides a reference design for a USB-powered, 915MHz power amplifier circuit based on the ADL5605 RF Driver Amplifier. The ADL5605 has an operating frequency range of 700MHz to 1GHz with a typical gain of 23.0dB. The CN0522 Circuit Evaluation Board is designed to optimize the RF signal of the ADL5605 for the unlicensed 915MHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) radio frequency band.

The Analog Devices Inc. EVAL-CN0522-EBZ features standard 50Ω SMA coaxial connectors for its RF signal path. For easy integration with RF systems, a male connector is used for the RF input, and a female connector is used for the RF output. Coplanar waveguides are used for the RF traces on the board, which have a characteristic impedance of 50Ω.

Power to the CN0522 is supplied through a micro-USB port and regulated by an LTM8045 μModule. This small, standalone DC-to-DC converter simplifies the regulator circuit design because it already includes a current-mode controller and power devices for a low noise amplifier power supply. The Evaluation Board also includes an ADT6402 Temperature Switch to disable the amplifier when the board temperature reaches a trip point.

Required Equipment

  • EVAL-CN0522-EBZ
  • Keysight® E5061B Vector Network Analyzer
  • Rohde & Schwarz® SMA100A Signal Generator
  • Rohde & Schwarz FSUP Signal Source Analyzer
  • 5V AC/DC USB power adapter
